I was working on some bookmarks the past week and most of them got sold at the art show on the weekend. :)
The paper was handmade by me. My mailbox is constantly filling up with junk mail and it inspired me to find creative ways to recycle it. It's a lot of fun to make paper and feels good to create something out of all that junk paper that comes through my mailbox. The illustrations were made with ink and gouache paint.
Poor puppy got left out in the snowfall :( What a coincidence that this week's topic was 'frozen' as I've just painted this 2 weeks ago to use it as a donation for the art show I've attended this weekend. size 6"x8", acrylic
This is a submission for Illustration Friday's topic "flying". I did it with watercolors which is not my usual medium therefore it was really challenging. This was my second try and I'm still not satisfied with it. :( I tend to overwork watercolors and of course that kills the nice transparent affect. Anyway, it was a good practice and I really needed that. When it was finished my 9 year old daughter came up with a very cute story for my illustration:
Once upon a time... on a warm fall day, a little boy gathered up tons of maple leaves. The little boy always thought about how it felt to fly. The leaves were so cozy that he fall asleep in the pile of leaves. When he woke up he noticed that he was a tiny leaf! Then all of a sudden a big wind blew him away and he was happily laughing that he could fly like the wind. The End.
The little hedgehog who loves to read...but there's not too much light under a mushroom so now he needs glasses :)
I think I'm obsessed with mushrooms...I don't know but I just love painting them and they seem to find their way into most of my paintings. Well it's fall... and it reminds me when I was a child I used to go to the forest for mushroom picking with my family...I miss those days...sometimes we found really big mushrooms. And they tasted so good! size 8"x10"x1.5", acrylic
This painting was inspired by my friend's cat...who used to be this cute little kitten...but not anymore. He grew up to be a vicious cat and he attacks me every time I try to pet him. :)
Today the weather is not too nice..it's cloudy and rainy, so I thought I post something that's cheerful. This painting was inspired by my daughter who has really long hair and sometimes it tangles up and looks like a bird nest. size 8"x16", acrylic (SOLD)
So finally, this blog is created and I'm very excited to start this new experience and share my art on blog land...
For my first posting I've chosen my profile image which is a portrait of me and my children, and it represents our move to Canada from Hungary.Although we left, our roots will always be connected to our homeland.
